Hi guys, I need a volume pedal for swells. Can someone recommend me one?

I've been using the Jim Dunlop DVP4 Volume (X) Mini Pedal. It's board friendly and very customizable as either a volume or expression pedal.

I’ve been using the lehle volume pedal for a while and love it. I’ve found my sweat to be somewhat corrosive so the volume pots on my guitars tend to seize up or get scratchy if I use them too much...that said I need a good reliable volume pedal for swells. I like that the lehle has a really even sweep and good pedal feel plus the built in boost pot is a nice touch. They are pricey though, I found mine used for a good price

I'll second the Lehle. I've got one, as I mostly just wanted a full-size volume pedal that doesn't use a pot (it works on magnetism I think). I had an Ernie Ball that lasted a long time with no issue, and then had a Hilton that I didn't care for. There's some nice stuff out there, but they can definitely get pricey too.

I like the Volume (X) because it also does not have potentiometers and it is entirely passive. You can set the torque, set the parameters, set the aux to plug into a tuner or reverse the heel/toe polarity. Plus it's about the size of a Boss pedal.

I didn't know that it doesn't have a pot. I've got one for my bass rig, but I'm on the fence about it. I really do prefer the feel of a full-size foot print, and I don't have huge feet.

I have the Boss FV-500 and it works just fine. Has a tuner out and I think can function as an expression pedal too. I think you can adjust the "feel" of the pedal too but I've never messed with that. Very rugged and very big.

I bought that pedal because of this.

I double checked and I think I'm wrong about the pot thing. Regardless, I still like it better than any other volume/expression pedal I've ever used.

I have been using the same Morley volume pedal for over 20 years now and it still works perfectly.

Run an Ernie ball vo jr. after a good buffered pedal. They have a great rebuild program if it ever goes bust. Very smooth travel also. Intuitive and reliable.

One thing to consider with the Ernie Ball volume pedal jr. is it is a rather slow pedal. Don’t expect to do crazy fast swells with it.

Yeah, i noticed this when testing it. I think i'm going to go with a Dunlop X. It feels better to me.

EHX came out with a pretty basic, but effective volume pedal last fall. I got one when they first came out and think it works great.

I have had the same Morley volume pedal for over 20 years now and it is still going strong. Not sure if they newer ones are built to last forever, but if mine is any indication, Morley might be someone to look at?

If it's important to you, just do it. Yes, it will hurt to spend that much money on a volume pedal. But if you can swing it, you will never regret it.

I've tried almost all of them. The Hilton is the ONE that feels expressive and musical.
