Boss Fender Pedals (deluxe reverb and bassman)

Post by leokula » Thu Jun 14, 2018 9:34 am

Hey guys, anybody has any experience with these?

I currently have a Fender 65R which, in my book, is a pretty run of the mill neutral SS amp that doesn't have a lot of color, so I'm thinking these could be a good addition to add some character if I want to. I don't plan to buy any tube amps in the near future, but would like to toy around with these and see what kind of sounds I could get out of them.

Been reading reviews and well, most of the reviews of any kind of simulation gear is just saying "get the real thing", "it's not the real deal"... well said Einsten, that doesn't really help, these are like a tiny fraction of the cost of these amps anyway.

Anybody has any thoughts on them?

I thought the 65 Reverb was a good one. I traded and/or sold it but that was because my amps have spring reverb built in so I wasn't using it.

I remember liking both at the time, you could get really nice overdrive sounds out of the 65 reverb, but obviously that's not what a lot people want from a blackface.

Before I had a tube amp, I thought all three were very useful. I just kept them at the end of the chain since two of them were amp simulators. I would always have the FDR-1 by itself, but would pair the FBM-1 and the FRV-1.

Yeah that's what I'm thinking of, having both in the end, even after the delay, to really use as amps. Plus they look cool as hell!
