NPD x3

Post by raphaël » Mon May 28, 2018 9:23 am

I'm back with effects after 3 or 4 years without anything but The Cleanness.
Lately, I've been playing exclusively straight through my amps, using built-in trems and reverb.
And I've been playing quite exclusively alone, or for me and friends and family.

But now that I have my non-reverb Princeton, which is my main amp, I needed a reverb.
And now that I play with other human beings, I needed to diversify my sound a bit.

So I bought 3 pedals and I received them 3 weeks ago. I already did some gigs and jams and recording sessions with this small pedalboard and I know I'm back into effects, but I consider those boxes quite differently now...like not an end but a way...I know what I mean, I'm not sure you are :D

The Surf Rider III is super great !!!!! just what I was looking for to compliment the amp.
The Sändare is the OD I've been seeking for years and years and years. I want another one on the board.
The H - bomb delay is quite surprising. I wanted a delay, went to Prymaxe, the used / demo section, and there was this incrrrrredible deal on that pedal. Checked it a bit, not too long and bought it.
This delay pedal is awesome. The tone knob allows me to go from very dark to quite bright, more digital but still very analog.
Perfect.

Well, here it is right now.
I know what I want next. Knowing is a relief :D

I'm happy to finally playing with effects and not using them for playing. That's very new to me.
AWESOME !!!!

It's a clean boost with a three band EQ. Great pedal by Dr. Scientist. I used to have one a while back and it worked great to either boost your signal or shape your tone differently.

Great setup. That Sandare looks cool. Had not heard of that one before.

That plus onboard Princeton tremolo sounds great to me.

I think the Sandare was originally named "Satellite Overdrive" or something like that. Don't know why they renamed it. Magnetic Effects makes VERY nice drive pedals, and I'd love to try one one of these days... Been curious about the H-Bomb Delay too!!

Exactly what mbt said.

Very powerful, and quite an always on pedal for me. Might change though, because of my idea of having another Sändare on the board, as an always on tone and gain shaping pedal. The Cleanness would be just a boost.
Anyway, this is the only pedal I kept after selling and trading all of the other. It stays with me. Plus the vynil finish is super kitsch and very handmade, I love it.
I guess it's the V2. Can't recall the difference with the V1 (1 knob less I guess). The difference with V3, if I recall, is just the lack of a mix knob. Which I really don't care.

The Sändare is freakin'awesome!!!!
I was lost with ODs and fuzzes before. Magnetic Effects seems to create exactly what I'm looking for, and the prices are very attractive for boutique pedal makers.
I'll pick a White Atom and a Solar Bender later. The Zola seems cool too.

Anyway,
I take advantage of this reply to publicly apologize towards Shadoweclipse13...
Hey Jason,
I sorry I didn't reply to your super answer to my request (informations on the White Atom)...back in early january :fp: :fp:
I wanted to, but then I forgot, don't know exactly why...
But thank you very much, your answer helped a lot in choosing a Magnetic Effects pedal, and I'm happy I did.
So thanks ;D !!!
