Acoustic DI Recommendations

Post by Unicorn Warrior » Sun Apr 08, 2018 3:11 pm

A band mate is looking for an acoustic DI. Wants to be able to EQ, tune, and mute.

Anything out there under $200 that's worth a shot?

I highly recommend the SansAmp Acoustic DI. Just get a separate tuner for tune/mute.

Sorry if this is not helpful (because it doesn't answer the specifics of the queery).

If your bandmate wants something to make a piezo driven acoustic sound better (meaning more like an acoustic) then you could look into a Fishman Aura.

Now the current Aura Spectrum pedals have what you want but are over budget but you can pick up the old, discontinued pedals (Dreadnaught, Concert, Nylon, etc) pretty often for well under $100 if you hunt around and are patient. These can be upgraded for $30 so you can use all the Aura Gallery images and find a match for your particular acoustic.

No eq with these but if you want eq to improve the crappy piezo sound, then you won't be needing it. No mute or tuner either but then the pedal plus upgrade could come in around $100.

Make sure the pedal can be upgraded. The very old Aura units that don't look like standard(ish) guitar pedals cannot accept the upgrade.
