Yes. The late 60's variant of the Fuzz Face.

I built the PNP version. Small Bear Electronics sells pairs of germanium transistors for these and other similar fuzz projects.
Here's a video of the 69 from YouTube. Less of the square wave sound and pretty rich with harmonics. If you are looking for something like you could hear on the Stones' "Satisfaction" (the square wave sound), these germanium fuzzes won't fit your needs.

And here is a video that compares the Fulltone 69 with the later variants. The Mk II model is still available, but I like the sound less.

Fulltone also makes or made (I dk if it's still in production) a silicon variant in a blue box.

i've been considering build a simple 1 or 2 knob Tonebender-type fuzz.
never used a fuzz face, so maybe i'm missing out...

For building one, check out Madbean's Pasty Face project...based on a Fulltone Soul Bender. I built one and it sounds great.preservation wrote: ↑Tue Jan 02, 2018 12:07 pm^ fascinating

Smallbear sells matched transistors for tonebenders.
