I've been finding a lot of devi pedals on guitar center's website at random stores. I recently found one in person at sam ash as well. It's the kind of product that sits around forever at stores like that, so the price is usually pretty good. She has also had some etsy sales lately where her stuff has been a lot cheaper than usual. I would keep checking those for a while until you find a good price. I currently have the vintage fuzz master (the one I rescued from purgatory at sam ash) on my board, and I've used a ton of her pedals in the past. Used, you should probably pay like $60-70 which is solid for what they are.

Just from home use, in order of frequency....
1. OCD
2. RAT
3. Tonebender Mk II
As my Ultrasonic has silicon fuzz built-in I generally use that, otherwise the Mk II would be in first place. Also, the RAT and OCD sound better with my phaser (which I actually sold not long ago) and are generally less pernickety than the Tonebender.

You think you can't, you wish you could, I know you can, I wish you would. Slip inside this house as you pass by.

Two clones were my favourites in 2017. A clone of a DAM Meathead (dark) and a clone of a Devi Ever Hyperion.

Re: Your Most Used Dirt Pedal of 2017
I bought an Ibanez TS808HW 2nd hand this year for a reasonable price and I really like it - never was a big tubescreamer type fan before so that's a surprise... that and my timmy got the most use 2017
For 2018 I wanted to get the Digitech Polara and a nice Compressor pedal (I never had one) - probably a Barber Tone Press with that parallel compression (dry/wet signal mix)

The DBA apocalypse is always really undervalued on the used market (cheaper than the fuzz war) and it's like a few devi fuzzes in one unit, plus a really powerful tone control.ElephantDNA wrote: ↑Wed Dec 27, 2017 9:07 pmI've been finding a lot of devi pedals on guitar center's website at random stores. I'm with you, and that's probably something I would look into myself. But this kid's 14, so I think it's probably out of his price range.MechaBulletBill wrote: ↑Thu Dec 28, 2017 6:49 amThe DBA apocalypse is always really undervalued on the used market (cheaper than the fuzz war) and it's like a few devi fuzzes in one unit, plus a really powerful tone control.ElephantDNA wrote: ↑Wed Dec 27, 2017 9:07 pmI've been finding a lot of devi pedals on guitar center's website at random stores. interesting, when i think about it, it really was the blue part of this one:
...and/or my old Boss SD-1
now, towards the end of the year, been using different ones (WauFuzz, Ace Tone Fuzz Master and such), but that Dan Armstrong thing is just fantastic. LOVE to add the "green ringer" for outer earthly annoying sounds on top!

I used my Catalinbread Katzenkonig a lot this year as well as my Walrus Janus. The Kat is kind of like a tone bender/rat hybrid. The Janus is the Janus!

I don't know anything about it other than there were quite a few people on talkbass that had them and really liked them. I don't remember any complaints. Maybe it's something that happens with your setup and not with other's?MechaBulletBill wrote: ↑Sun Dec 24, 2017 4:38 amI'm kind of surprised that it's been so embraced by bassists coz I find it has some subtle buzzy muddy ghost notes thing on the lower strings. Not enough to bother me when playing live but I kept it off for my clean sound in the studio.CHILDISHGAMBINO wrote: ↑Sat Dec 23, 2017 8:28 amI haven't tried one but I know 4 or 5 bassists that love the Broadcast. One guy has two of them he likes it so much. The clips they've recorded sound great. I'd post them but they're on Talkbass and I've been banned.MechaBulletBill wrote: ↑Sat Dec 23, 2017 1:54 am
I haven't tried it but I expect it's an interesting fuckest-uppest fuzz in high gain mode.

A Marshall Guv'nor II that my friend modded for me. Whatever he did really changed the pedal for the better. Gives it a more pleasant distortion without losing it's raunchiness. It's not as dark and honky as it was before the mod. Clearer sounding than stock.

Rat Clone
Black Arts Toneworks Black Forest (next purchase will be the Pharaoh)
Ram Muff Clone and NY Big Muff, run parallel...because...no one will ever know!
Zvex Mastotron? I think is what it is called.
