Emerson EM-Drive anyone?

Post by marqueemoon » Mon Dec 04, 2017 3:48 pm

Anyone using one of these or a clone? Curious what you think. In the videos I've checked out it seems like it gets pretty mushy sounding with the gain past 3 o'clock or so. Is there a way to mitigate that with component values if building one?

Anyone? This seems like a pretty good candidate for a first build, which is largely why I'm curious about it.

It's not a bad choice for a first build. It's simple and easy enough to play with the values. Circuit-wise, it's like an Electra Distortion that was built wrong. The Electra is the foundation of a ton of different designs on the market–Lovepedal Champ, Woodrow, JTM, COT 50, EQD Speaker Cranker, Greer Ghetto Stomp, Green Giant–it's a great first build with a lot of different flavors and modding options.

Cool. The low parts count is definitely part of the appeal. Found this PCB, but no idea if it's decent.

Look ok to me. The EM Drive is pretty easy to throw together on vero or perf too. Here's my layouts out for it (perf/etchable PCB):

And lvlark's vero (or stripboard) layouts:

Awesome! I will probably bug my friend who's built a few projects and see if he wants to build them together.
