Sovtek Small Stone

Post by Mike S » Sat Oct 28, 2017 7:42 am

A shop in town currently has a black box used Sovtek Small Stone that they are selling very cheap. I personally swear by the Phase 100, but would there be any benefit in snatching up the Sovtek?

There is some overlap, but I usually look at them as being at opposite ends of the phase spectrum. They complement each other.

With both on and the MXR set slow and the Small Stone set fast you can get a pseudo Leslie sound. Set the color switch to taste.

Is there anything special about the sound that's unique to the black Sovtek?

they sound nice.

i prefer a s/stone to a Phase 90.

construction may not be great. check the footswitch is good.

they look cool, I think the small stones sound 'wetter' somehow than most other classic phasers
there is a volume drop though with them and they are built quite poorly
