Best Buy scores?

Post by burntumber » Mon Sep 04, 2017 7:39 pm

Best Buy in Canada won't be carrying instruments anymore and some gear has been on sale to get rid of stock.

curious to read what people here might have scored.

I didn't get any great deals, but

Boss OC3 $60
Hotone Looper and Reverb pedals, $90 each.

There was a Ph-3 for $50 but I don't really need it.
And some MIM Strats for $600.
and all the Hotone amps for $80.

All the Gibson, Epiphone prices stayed the same.

Other than that, just some eq and noise suppressor pedals

Anyone get a good score?

I like my Hotone Looper. You have to be careful not to overload the input or you get digital glitch, but other than that, it is a great pedal for the money. I love that you can speed up and slow down your loops ala Bill Frisell.

I sometimes pop into a Best Buy for strings in a pinch, but I've never actually looked at what they carry gear-wise. I had no idea they had pedals. I'd love a PH-3 for cheap. I want me that Step function for my synths.

My local Best Buy still has SG specials for a grand and $700 modern player Fenders, that have all been there since the instruments went up a few years ago. I think all of the Fender Mustang amps have finally sold.

Still no markdowns yet.

Mine's the same! Keep hoping I'll walk by and see a MP thinline tele on clearance for $300 or something, but no such luck yet!

Is that a Canada thing? I've been in Best Buy here a few times in the past couple of years, and haven't seen anything musical like that, or I might have wandered over there more.

The US stores had a music department for a few years but I think they are long gone. I picked up my purple JM-JM there for $3-400 less than what they wanted for them elsewhere in 2010.

Yeah, a bunch of Canadian Best Buys still have a music section.

They used to have a music section in the US years ago but it never seemed like they were serious. My local store carried Ernie Ball strings and picks, the Boss DS-1 and those big plastic Danelectro effects that they started putting out after their lunch series. The only guitars I remember seeing there were those cheap acoustic and Strat clones that came in small boxes for $60 that you used to see at Target all the time as well as a single sunburst Japanese Jaguar that just sat there and collected dust for years.

I've been to three Best Buys (not located near each other), and none of them have any sales on their musical equipment. I have yet to see a single place selling any pedals, either.

Burntumber, where are you located?
