I'm still looking for a distortion. I really liked the MXR bass distortion m85 probably get that again (superb for guitar) but must compare the D+ or Badass side by side which means I have to go to a big store and do it--rushed, noisy, & annoying as hell.

For someone who dislikes the DOD 250 & the tubescreamer maybe the D+ ain't for me?
Do the DOD 250 or Tubescreamer use germanium diodes? I feel like that's really what's unique about the D+ sound.
Nope

@elektrovac: I love my RSH-02 but the more I play it, the more I find myself using only the Distortion+ part. It sounds fantastic and I always have the opportunity to go crazy with the Blue!

I've found the setting that gets closest to emulating the Distortion+ with an entirely different pedal. I used an EHX Germanium 4 Big Muff Pi: Overdrive channel only: Volume-Max, Gain-Min, Tone-Max, Bias-Min.

Found myself yet another one of these for cheap, a '79 model with no external power jack, smooth box and block logo. Sounds quite a bit less trebly than the '82. :-*

Full of crumbly foam... :fp:

I've got the MXR CSP104 and it sounds fantastic. I usually crank both knobs all the way up and use it alone or with a chorus when I'm in that Husker Du playing mood.

I’ve been using an old one (block letters, no led) on and off for a couple of years now. I really like it with the distortion set low and volume a little over unity gain.

I was (and am) too cheap to buy a powerplate, so I made a couple cardboard shims to allow the 9v adapter to fit, all taped up with blue painters tape. Classy.

Mine is on my bench. I built a modded one (different clipper combination) that I'm going to tear the pots out of - I'm going to rebuild it so it's got no knobs and is permanently set to: Vol = MAX, Gain = 0.

Knobs, schmobs!

Never played on a D+, that I remember.

Just the other day, I played a friend’s BS/SS Mini with my bass, through my Traynor TS 25B. At low volume, but it really sounded great on quite a few settings. Compared the sound against the other pedals I’ve been using, an S&S Bluebeard and another big box, crazy fuzz (can’t remember the name)[Edit - Dark Grime Deluxe]. It was a really nice, different tone - a little more than the cool Traynor sound, still full, to the pretty full tilt sounds of the other 2 pedals’ sounds.

I’m gong to have to get one of those Minis one day, that or a Fuck, tho they’re supposed to be a bit different. I’ll have to read up to see which one.

that's kind of what the micro amp boost is, right? d+ without the clipping

Is it? Does it add harmonics, liveliness and a bit of hair on all of the swells? Because the D+ still does at that setting.
If so, huh.... ya learn something new every day!
