Reverse pedal
I used to own a Boss DD-7 (I think) with the reverse feature, and found it pretty coolalthough I never really used it to its full potential... After listening to Dear Prudence from the Beatles and the magical mystery tour record, what reverse pedals are out there and which is the best?
thanks

Re: Reverse pedal
It's funny you say that about the DD7. I had one a while ago and fully intended on using as a quick, simple looper; but found myself using the reverse. I ended up selling my first one as well - but quickly realized, that while it wasn't a "glamour" pedal... it was an essential utility - and yep. Having that reverse handy was a big part of it
Curious to see where you land and if it scratches the itch any better than the DD7. Best of luck!

Re: Reverse pedal
my fav one was* the danelectro wasabi forward reverse pedal, its simple you just set the knobs 100%wet, no repeats and use the tap tempo button to set the time. the tap tempo is important bc it makes the chunks correct and with this one it even puts the chunks in the correct position so you can even get in sync enough to play rhythm parts in reverse as long as you are tapping the tempo
*now i just use a multi

Re: Reverse pedal
I just use my DL-4. It's surprisingly good.

Re: Reverse pedal
There are quite a few out there. My short list would include tc flashback, digitech hardwire, or line 6 echo park.
That being said... Just get a stereo memory man with hazari. Its an amazing sounding delay that happens to do reverse as well. This way you don't have to have a dedicated reverse pedal as u do with the flashback.

What is acoustic? Oh, you means a grandpa's guitars? A grandpa's guitars? That's for pussies and grandpas. I think you know it.

The Danelectro Backtalk is quite highly-regarded and sought-after, but not so easy to get hold of at a reasonable price.painted wood wrote:what reverse pedals are out there and which is the best?

Re: Reverse pedal
The EHX Stereo Memory Man "with Hazarai" has a brilliant reverse feature. Arguably the best of the bunch, from what I've read over the years. As well as being able to dial in the usual reverse repeats you can set it so the foot switch will echo in reverse whatever lick you've just played, about 4 seconds-worth. Great for live use. It's very usable & a hell of a lot of fun.
Honestly, if EHX made a mini pedal with just that feature I'd buy it in a flash & sell the Hazarai to fund a better delay pedal. It's digital & lacks the warm, organic vibe of other pedals. Plus it won't oscillate. It does have a ton of features, some of which are great, but I think it's fair to say there are better delay pedals out there these days.
This is a pretty decent demo that showcases a lot of the features clearly.

Re: Reverse pedal
yes it so cool. There's the voices knob on the reverse delay which is like adding lots of delays together so it can approach reverb washes, and even weird dial-up ring mod sounds at low speeds. Is also "intelligent" so it can sense length of phrases, although that mostly for me adds a random element for reverse solos almost a bit like Johnny Greenwoods Max/MSP patches if you play with the voice or time knob at the same time especially as the time knob on this pedal 'stutters' rather than warps pitch.PorkyPrimeCut wrote:The EHX Stereo Memory Man "with Hazarai" has a brilliant reverse feature. Re: Reverse pedal
Another vote for the Memory Man with Hazarai. By far the easiest most intuitive reverse I've used. Its been stuck on board for the last 5 years, because nothing can beat its reverse. It has a bunch of othr usable delays and a decent looper as well.

Re: Reverse pedal
I use the reverse setting on my Ditto X2 quite a bit. I like that it's a reverse signal, as opposed to a reverse delay or reverse reverb.

Re: Reverse pedal
Thanks for the input and feedback!
I am a fan of EH pedals. I had an old memory man with the boost switch and that thing killed it for analog delay. IT was noisy but I didn't mind it... One day it stopped working and even Howard couldn't fix it so I sold it for parts. I'll look into the EH with Hazarai.
The DL-4 demo on youtube looks pretty cool too for looping.

Re: Reverse pedal
The empress reverb has a couple of reverse settings, reverse delay and reverse reverb. It was the best at doing reverse that I've ever heard. I had to sell mine and they are $450, so I won't be buying one to get those reverse settings back. Great reverb pedal though.
