been wondering what could beef up my direct signal when i go to record...
i go Tele ---> PreSonus Audiobox22VSL.
would one of those tiny Mooer preamp/amp modelers work better than the Radar ?
i know they can work separately but would the Radar work by itself ?

The Radar would make more sense than the stand alone preamp pedals as it covers more ground, way more flexible and you wouldn't need to add anything else to get you cleanly into the interface.
I personally wouldn't use one as I'm too skeptical of anything that models digitally like that. I just run my pedal board into an American Sound which is 100% analog then DI>interface. But the Radar is still a better option over their preamp range imo.

I'm currently tracking with the Radar, feeding a split signal out of my amp's effects loop. I'm not sure I can 'best' it with real microphones. If you get one, any preset that doesn't sound right do the following: change mic from whatever it is to the 421 or U87 and play with mic placement (cone to edge, distance).

I've had a MK1 Tender Octaver for a few months now and it's great. The tracking is as good as my POG2 and it takes up a lot less real estate on the board.
My girlfriend just got me the Yellow Comp for Christmas, too. Really, really, REALLY good compressor. Goes from subtle to really squishy and there aren't any hard-to-understand controls like on a lot of other compressors. It's super easy to find the sound you want and there's a lot of very usable tones. Good as a clean boost, too.
I'm really tempted by the Hustle Drive too, love the sound of the OCD but wouldn't drop the £££ on it.
