The fulltone gt-500's distortion side is quite unique in that it has a wah inductor to boost the mids. Idk if its what you're looking for but they can be had for around $60-80 usually.
What is acoustic? Oh, you means a grandpa's guitars? A grandpa's guitars? That's for pussies and grandpas. I think you know it.

Seconded, I have one and it nails that sound 100%, plus it's easy to tame with the guitars volume knob.

Its weird these are listed $65 on reverb.com but $120+ on eBay....apparently reverb users hate them. I think they're super versatile goes for 70s crunch to 90s grunge/alt with ease.

I think Fulltone is one of those pedal brands where people hear that the guy behind the brand is kind of a jerk and then they don't like the pedals as much-- whether or not those rumors and stories are true. My bassist has a Fulltone GT-500, but she never uses it.

+1 for the Harmonic Percolator. It's probably my favourite pedal ever.

I've owned an Earthquaker Devices Acapulco Gold but I just didn't love it.

Also owned a Moog MF Drive, which was kinda cool.

Boss HM-2 is super cool.
Yeah, the harmonic percolator is a sweet fuzz... Ive got a Catalinbreat SFT, so im covered on on a ballsy middy drive. Ive watched reviews between the HM-2 and the DOD american metal, and I cant decide which i like more.

An underrated range of pedals, those Pearls, IMHO.

Thats a gnarly fuzz

HUGE shoutout to FightingPlankton.

i saw his advice and thought "yeah right".

sure enough found a Fulltone GT-500 for $60 shipped (on Reverb).
(earlier?) grey version, not the red.

it showed up today. VERY useable. nails the MXR D+ sound that i love but does a lot more.
ridiculous amounts of volume/gain on tap, and the eq section is very useable.
i love having the option of Boost before Dist or v.v.

well made, looks cool (much smaller in person than it looks in photos), sounds amazing, very affordable, AND has top-mounted jacks.

score.

I'm super curious about the new Nels Cline / Tone Concepts "Goo" pedal. Anyone here tried one? http://www.toneconcepts.com/goo/

T-REX Mudhoney
I don't know if it's the most unique but without any doubt it is one of the best distortions out there
at lower gain settings it is a warm, fat OD with the boost switch on it is a very thick distortion.
