Re: Wild 60s Fuzz
CBC makes good clones of all of the insane '60's fuzz/octave fuzz pedals and use accurate parts. I use their Super Fuzz and Tone Machine clones. I had a French Toast for awhile, which I guess was actually designed by the same guy as the tone machine, but it just seemed wrong and tame. It's like comparing an accurate Super Fuzz to a Boss FZ-2 Hyper Fuzz/Behringer Super Fuzz.

Re: Wild 60s Fuzz
CBC makes a great clone of the FY-6 Super Fuzz for sure! I've had two of them. I also had the FY-2 Companion Fuzz(the early one without the mid knob) and it was really weird to me, but the guy I sold it to absolutely loves it!Mike S wrote:CBC makes good clones of all of the insane '60's fuzz/octave fuzz pedals and use accurate parts. totally this. & could add a shinei fy2 to that list. all classic shrill & waspy 60s spaghetti western & spyfilm fuzzes.nucleardonut wrote:Anything considered "Spaghetti Western Fuzz" which tend to be variants of the Mostrite Fuzzrite or the Maestro FZ1a. The Tone Bender can get you there as well, especially the Mark I, 1.5 and 2. Mark 3 Tone Benders are basically Big Muffs, I believe.
a muff or superfuzz or variant would be to far too fat & expansive sounding. just too many stages & too much bass.

On the other hand, if you can pick up a vintage Little Big Muff, it has a hi-lo switch which makes it anything but fat on the high setting.

Re: Wild 60s Fuzz
My go-to for wild buzzy fuzz is my Valco 'The Stooge' fuzz with the octave setting kicked in, which I believe is just a rebranded JOYO JF-12 in a different box. Probably not on the same level of authenticity as the other recommendations in this thread but it's only £30 and nasty as hell.

The Goo Goo Fuzz (FY6 Superfuzz clone with nos parts) is wild and sixties. Blow-out sales on 'b-stock' pedals at the moment.

Hey ho, im pretty much using an similar tone. Green Russian Big Muff + Trebleboost does it for me. Might be a try worth!

i would second that recommendation.borntohang wrote:My go-to for wild buzzy fuzz is my Valco 'The Stooge' fuzz with the octave setting kicked in, which I believe is just a rebranded JOYO JF-12 in a different box. joyo jf12 (voodoo octave) is a clone of the foxx tone machine with switchable octave (footswitch).
great 60s octave fuzz & nice & growly when you cut octave. cheap & good quality. a keeper.

Re: Wild 60s Fuzz
For crazy, definitely the Tone Machine or Superfuzz. For not quite as crazy, the Ge Fuzz Face or even a Dirty Rat.

Re: Wild 60s Fuzz
If you want something you can really dial in, get a Bit Commander. Just crank the normal signal, and blend in whatever subs, octave, and upper octave combo you want.

Re: Wild 60s Fuzz
Well I've just picked up a Germanium Fuzz Face Mini so at the moment I feel quite content with my fuzz options. I also have a little silicon FF clone, a Mooer Big Muff clone and a Harmonic Percolator clone along with a Mooer RAT clone and Nobels Overdrive. Can almost get all the sounds I want (although that nasty Shin-Ei fuzz is still a little elusive, but usinng a wah as a filter helps).
