Re: Setup of the day
That's exactly it. I consider them more conversational speakers, where you can keep the volume low and the music will just sit in the background, sounding warm and bassy, rather than a lot of the high and mid-focused bluetooth speakers that are designed to cut through a mix of friends, family, animals, traffic, etc. IMO, anyhow.

Re: Setup of the day
I have a couple of those Sansui speakers, and nice old Bose, but they’re not hooked up right now.
My “stereo” is just an older (but nice) Sony surround sound, that has its own 5 little speakers and a subwoofer, and I only use it with the DVD player.
Last time those Sansui’s were hooked up, I remember them having a nice, rich sound. They complemented the clarity of the Bose speakers very nicely.

Cold and gray outside.
But I finally good the Termitecaster back from the shop, with a wonderful full refret. ❤
That into:
70s EHX MicroSynth
70s Maxon D&S OK
80s Ibanez CD10
Into my 70s Vox Escort
Love it, and it doesn't bother the neighbors!

Re: Setup of the day
They are not bad, actually...the speaker sounds pretty good, and not as loud/big as the 12" Celestion in my Matchless Lightning.
It is smaller sounding and quieter, which is what I was looking for to get the sound level down.
I use an attenuator as well with this little setup and I can get some great driven and edge of breakup sounds. I think the little speaker is voiced for the rockier side of things, so it gets a thumbs up from me.

Re: Setup of the day
This was earlier tonight. I was playing to a backing track from YouTube and switching back and forth between my heavily modified Squier VM Jag and my Jag-Stang. No pedals. My amp is a non-stock Pignose G40V

At least some of that bass-heaviness has to be down to their placement on the floor and close to a wall, but if you're happy with that sound that's all that matters (though if you have neighbours, they might think otherwise).

Re: Setup of the day
You're completely right. But right now, they sound good where they are. It's a bright room (floor to ceiling glass windows for half of the room), so I'm pretty happy as is. I'm fine with them being where they are. The speakers back into a walk-in closet, in any case, so not bothering any neighbours.UlricvonCatalyst wrote: ↑Wed Apr 01, 2020 2:20 amAt least some of that bass-heaviness has to be down to their placement on the floor and close to a wall, but if you're happy with that sound that's all that matters (though if you have neighbours, they might think otherwise).

Hey thanks!UlricvonCatalyst wrote: ↑Wed Apr 01, 2020 2:28 amThat's a beautiful SG - never saw it before now. I think white (okay, maybe black at a pinch) is the only colour where gold hardware doesn't look seven shades of wrong; even then, the more gold that's worn off the better.
I'm not massively into gold hardware...although three of my guitars have it.

Haven't been playing much, been either busy with work or feeling depressed about the state of the world and the USA in particular.
Got my two main guitars out and spent some time with them today
