Lovepedal Hermida EPH-3 tape echo simulator

Post by del » Thu Mar 14, 2019 8:05 am

I bought an EPH-3 recently and am loving it on both guitar and bass!

It does a very good job of emulating general tape echo machines. While not precisely mimicing an echoplex, echorec, space echo, or any other vintage machine, it simulates key aspects of that style of technology. It adds a touch of lo-fi tonality and knob for "flutter" to control warble alongside standard "delay," "feedback," and "mix" (dry/wet) controls. Ultimately it is very musical, easy to operate, and fits in well with both scuzzy garage and electro styles of music.

I'm glad to have it alongside my more precise Malekko Ekkos (I have both the bright and dark versions from about a decade ago) and it's likely to be my first choice delay for the next good while.

I'm eager to hear from folks about their set-ups and experiences with this pedal!

I really loved that pedal. I got a blem from his SNS sale for $50 but ultimately decided my moog mini delay was superior so I sold it. I would grab another in a heart beat if I wanted a lofi type delay.

FWIW, I've been running the following rig for a few days and totally LOVING it!

Epiphone Firebird VII/Gibson SG Classic (p-90s)/Danelectro DC-2 -> ZVex Sonar (tremolo) -> DOD 250 -> JH-F1 Fuzz Face (recent silicon version) -> Hermida EPH-3 -> Traynor YBA-2 daisy-chained-into Vox AC4 (recent tube-pre/SS-power model)

It's fan-damn-tastic!
