Alex/scumback is what I have used, works great, pretty sure danocaster has recommended the same on tgp

As has been brought up,and attenuator was never nor intended or designed to transform a roar into a whisper.
It´s that simple,and many are those that abuse them.

There´s two other manners in which to handle this. First up powerscaling,or PS for short,and then a WELL thought through PPIMV install. Both WAY better solutions to your problem at hand.
Powerscaling is a lot more complex tho,which should be a point to any giging guitarist. Ie;it adds complexity to your amp.
