So it seems that EXH has plans on reissuing the Sovtek Mig50 under their brand. I just ordered the last prototype from New York. Hopefully it gets here soon so I can post some clips.

I heard there were fewer than 20 of these handwired protos, so good find by you! Guessing the production of the first big run will be in China.

Apparently, there were 18 according to the shop. They did zero promotion for the prototypes. Kinda bummed that they are going to China instead of Russia for actual production. Going to A/B it with an original mig50 as soon as it gets here and post it.

Looking forward to that!

I'd probably be more excited over the 50H, but still pretty cool.

If these are fairly solidly built, colour me interested.

Just curious--what is the appeal? Vintage ones can be had for less and are probably better crafted. I could be wrong.

Traynor did the same thing with the yba-1's and idk if anyone bought them.

They might be easy to find where you are from but I dont find them very often here and if I do, they're usually not very cheap.
Also the build quality of some of them are not the best and its hard to know which ones are good or which are lemons. EHX usually build fairly solid stuff.

$595 is pretty close to what old ones sell for now. I'd have been sorely tempted to buy one of those prototypes.

Man if the prototypes were only $600 I can't imagine the Asian-made ones will be even 2/3 that price. Really, really wish they would just make them in NYC    I also really, really wish these would have been put up on Reverb or something instead of all of them being placed in a single shop in Brooklyn. I've always wanted one of these, but by the time I knew about them they were already commanding hilarious prices for what they are/were.

At any rate I'd much rather get one of these as opposed to, say, a Jet City head or something. I wonder how hard it is to re-voice one into Model T territory like the Hovercraft dude does? If these guys come in around $399 or something I'd totally have to get my hands dirty and try.

I watched the video some dude put up and while the quality wasn't great it sounded fine. Love EHX and these amps so they really couldn't go too wrong by reissuing them.

According to the owner of Main Drag, I got the last one. Supposed to be delivered today. Planning on doing some a/b testing it against the Sovtek Mig 50, and probably my mig50h, just cause. I'll try to post it by the end of the weekend.
