I have a '68 that required a good deal of work when I got it - luckily I'm an amp tech so it wasn't an expensive proposition. It had the original Jensen P12Q which was in ok conditon, but I didn't want to risk blowing it so replaced it with a Weber12F150/50w/light dope and couldn't be happier with its voicing and dynamic response.

I have a Cannabis Rex in a Deluxe Reverb and love it in that amp (warm and loud), but I think the 12F150 suits the Ampeg better as it has a "bite" that complements the amp's mid-focused voice and more extended headroom. ironically, I didn't like that Weber so much in the Deluxe - different horses for different courses...

yeah - that sounds good to me. stop me if you've heard this one before:

when i did the resto on my '66 RR2, i went with the Weber AlNiCo 12, i think it was called P12NB back then, the B standing for British style cone. it really does bring a Voxy upper-mid to the Ampeg table. definitely one of my most successful restorations - i think i've gigged that amp more than any other.

Admittedly its nothing like the stock CTS speaker that came with my Reverbrocket II, but I put a Weber California (JBL Clone) 80Watt speaker in it.

I love it! I can get overdrive using my clean boost, and it has a nice sort of dark clean tone.
