Show your Bass amps!

Post by StevenO » Mon May 28, 2012 6:43 pm

I've been playing bass more frequently and the bass playing crowd is a little undeappreciated here, SO...

Here's mine!

For low-volume playing (guitar speakers in the cab):

For loud stuff, there's my Yorkville 200 watt bass amp (under the Princeton), which I think is made entirely out of concrete as it's ridiculously heavy. Sounds fine, though.

For louder stuff, you should just get a bass cab for the Showman! My current pride and joy as far as bass amps goes would be my 100W(2xKT88) West Grande into an Emperor 2x15" cab. Roughly the same wattage as the Showman, and in smaller rooms the low end is enough to make you want to throw up.

Definitely going that route. Just need to find the right cab first. Those Emperor cabs are beautiful, though.

mini rig by Zounds Perspex, on Flickr

short scale basses (the Mustang pretty much all the time) + Electric 180-watt power unit (4 KT88s) + old Mesa Diesel 115. I use this more for my Nord Electro these days, but yeah!

the gigantic Electric 810 barely in the photo (and the treadmill in the background!) have gone on to other locales.

Not much to it.. an old Acoustic 150 head and two newer Acoustic cabs.. a 1x15 and a 4x10. Works for me though.

Although I'm not currently playing bass in a band, when I did I used a Traynor TS-50B into a Traynor Group One 215. Here's an (old) pic:

Small: (I picked this up for $30 a few years ago - it's actually still DOA, so I should really get around to fixing it up)
Image

Medium: (Free via kijiji because it was 'broken' - ie., dirty pots - a bit of DeOxIt later & it works like a champ)

Large - various permutations of:
