the Tremolux speakers are two 10" Jensens wired at 4 Ohms....the Musicmaster Bass Amp according to the Fender Amp Field Guide is 8 Ohms.
I won't do this all the time...I just wanna plug the MMBA in for a bit and have a little play...wanna see how much I can overdrive it
Is it ok if I run my MMBA through my Tremolux's speakers?

are you sure? i have always heard that it is ok for the speaker load to be a higher number than the amp, but if it's lower you will fry the amp... for instance i remember a marshall amp having "speaker load must be no less than 2 ohms" printed on the back panel.mezcalhead wrote: It might not sound its best but you won't hurt it.

AFAIK having a load higher or lower puts extra strain on the output transformer one way and the tubes another way .. but I can't remember which is which. Regardless, I believe with Fenders you can get away with a factor of 2x either way .. so 16 ohm or 4 ohm for an amp that wants to see 8 ohms, etc. Certainly lots of guys do it without any bother ..
Other amps may be more finicky, and I think Marshalls generally are .. actually don't they tend to blow up their output transformers even with the recommended load?
Having said that, if you're going to be relying on the cash from selling it soon, then maybe cranking it up heavily into the wrong load is inviting trouble .. if there are any parts thinking about failing, that might persuade them.

yeah, the way i've heard it is that if you have a lower value you risk overheating and possibly frying the OT, and with a higher value the tubes work harder and might wear out a bit quicker, but i've always been told it's perfectly safe.mezcalhead wrote: AFAIK having a load higher or lower puts extra strain on the output transformer one way and the tubes another way .. but I can't remember which is which.
but as you say, this may only be an issue with marshall amps.
