Ampeg V4 head
Man, I psot alot of topics on gear i want to get but damn, i have so many opportunities!!!
I might be able to score an early to mid 70's ampeg v4 head, in rough condition. apparently it just needs tubes and a new fuse, and a cap job would probably be a good idea. heres some pictures:
he originally offerd $250 as the price, but someone else offered something apparently so hes asking me to offer higher. im not sure if its worth that much as ive seen clean working ones on ebay for lower. whatdo you guys think?

I'd be all over it if I were in the US.

Those things are great. You'd probably pay around the same amount of money on fixing it up as you would on shipping if you bought on ebay so it's your call. The reverb on those are awesome. Great clean tones. Doubles as both a bass head and a guitar head.

Did you get it? I'd pay $375-$400 for it.

Re: Ampeg V4 head
i've got a music store around here that has a cosmetically pristine V4 (outside of some dried, old cat hairvomitball) sitting under a pile of junk, behind piles of broken organs and such. my bandmate asked about it and he said that it needs a couple tubes, works great, but he won't sell it.
this guys store is basically in a not so nice part of town. it is messy as all hell, smells of cat piss due to the cats he lets have free reign to Jimmy, piss and vomit on everything. no one knows how he stays in business, cos anything you ask about that is remotely decent, he won't sell it. he just hordes equipment. very frustrating. i've seen pristine jag's & jm's in there from the 60's, you ask about them, you get "oh, well, i have gotten to play around with it yet. then i'll think about putting it out". And it disappears forever. you can see them sitting on the wall in his "office" where you'd need 100,000 Persian warriors just to bust through all the crap to get into. And the guy is solely a bass player... very frustrating.

Sounds like an equipment vault, not a store.
