Epiphone Triggerman Head and 4x12 Cabinet

Post by The Baron » Mon Feb 26, 2007 6:42 pm

Hello all. First time posting.

I have been interested in the
Epiphone Triggerman Head and 4x12 Cabinet for a while and wonder
if anyone here has tried them or has one?

The price is nice and I dont gig. The effects are nice to have if
your on a budget. Only interested in clean and no distortion. I play
only old time country. Use a Jazzmaster CIJ and a 50;s Tele.

Overall, what do yo think.

Thanks,

Dan

Momunist.

Here is the link to Epiphone site. This is for the head.

This is for the cabinet

If any one can give any clues on how it is, I'd appreciate it. I looked at Harmony Central and saw
a couple of reviews but would like your opinions.

Thanks,

Dan

If you don't gig and only play clean you probably don't need a 100 watt 4x12 stack. What amp do you currently have? How much is the triggerman+Cab?
Times change.  Remember when dog Jimmy used to go white and chalky?  Now it grows hair!  We got used to it. We'll get used to poly. -blueavenger

Yeah, I agree that 100W might be overkill at home even if it is a solid state amp .. what do you currently play through and why do you want to upgrade it? Personally I would've thought you'd do better with a smaller valve combo like one of the current Fenders, eg: Blues Jr or Hotrod DLX, depending on your need for volume.

If you only play country, would you use most of the effects?  Look for an amp with reverb and/or tremolo onboard if you use them, and buy or make a separate stompbox compressor .. I can't find a list of the Triggerman's effects but I'd be guessing they'll be digital chorus, flange, distortion, etc., not the sort of thing I think of when I think country.

The Triggerman head and cab combined new is ~$480 .. I'm guessing you could probably manage a smaller valve combo at around that, especially if you buy second-hand.

Why should we buy postage stamps? We can make our own.

FireAarro : I currentyly dont have an amp :'(
Had a Fender Concert Reverb fro a while, but had to go back to Fender
and never repalced.

The amp and head would run me about $650 Canadian, around $600.00 U.S.

Very tempting at that price. I would need another amp for another location that I stay at
on the weekends out of town and a Princeton Reverb or Deluxe Reverb would be a good choice.

For the main rig, and for the price, I thought this setup looked interesting.

i have to agree about the not needing 100w.  imho your money would be better spent on an old supro tube amp or something like that, you should be able to find one on ebay for around $400.  good luck!

It's solid state though, and it has a master volume, so it's still gonna sound good at lower volumes, unlike a 40 watt tube amp that has to be cranked up to sound good. You're using it for country and solid state amps sound great for country music. It has a decent delay, decent reverb, and lots of headroom. Even though you don't need 100 watts it's still there in case you ever do. Granted, a half stack isn't the most convenient monster to move around... but it's still pretty cool to plug into one, crank it up to 10, and stand right in front of it while in your power stance. Err... Do country pickers have a power stance?
