Pics of my gig rig post-facelift...

Post by serial » Sun Feb 11, 2007 3:20 pm

Got out the heatgun, some sandpaper and 3M spray cement and a few yards of new tolex...  Here are the results-I'm pretty happy with the job-it's really nicely done, even, no bubbles, etc.  These pics are before the top corners and head logo are on.  Also, the grillecloth isn't attached yet because I haven't decided whether I'm keeping the white piping or going with Marshall-gold braid.  This was fun and I should have it out Friday night.

Nice job!

It'd be real easy to tell if the checks were crooked, and I'd bet it'd bug you forever  :), but it looks fantastic and totally even.  Impressive.

nice rig.
how do you like the duoverb overall? i wanted one after a few demo runs, but the amp was discontinued too quickly.
i liked the idea, though. one of their more unique ideas.

The checkers were a PITA to line up.  They look a little off where the piping is, but that's b/c those plates aren't screwed in/piping still loose.  It actually looks great all together.
I really like the Duoverb as a gigging amp-extremely easy to use, more than loud enough, some really good tones and they're pretty inexpensive.  The one trick is setting the presets at gig volume.  I set all kinds of great patches when I first got it home and took it to rehearsal and it sounded like a$$ cranked.  Out of frustration, I keyed in some presets at volume and they sounded SO much better.  Built like a tank too.

If you have the decency to bring the '65 Jazzmaster out to your gig on Friday night, I'll be willing to suck up the 2-hour drive and get some bitchin' pictures for ya.

You ARE taking this amp, right?!?!

Not sure if the tolex would stick to korina. :P
I've got another Hamer Vector just like that one, but in surf green.  Looks killer.
