i havent run two amps at once live yet, but ive been running my marshall jtm60 and peavey classic 50 stereo at home and man, it sounds sweet. i dont use an a/b box, i just have my echo park at the end of my effects chain and i have left going to the marshall, and right going to the peavey. im swapping the peavey classic 50 2x12 for a classic 50 4x10 this week, so i would love to see what those 10's sound like mixed with the celestion 12's in my marshall.

when i start playing gigs again, im gonna run stereo as often as possible. mmmm, stereo.....

I got my Roger Mayer Crossroads box and ran it into my Marshall 30th Anniversary head and Vox AC-30CC.  It is the most beautiful sound I've ever heard.

oh man sounds like heaven. sound clips??? :?

im was gonna use a dod 270 a/b switch to switch between my two amps, but that would kinda defeat the purpose. can anyone recommend a good way to run amps in stereo?

what i mean is, i have my line 6 echo park at the end of my chain and i run left to the classic 50 and right to the marshall. any other cool ways to do stereo?

I run a '77 Musicmaster Bass and a '75 Vibrochamp in stereo. Plenty of volume for me. The key to this setup is my Boss PN-2 Tremolo/Pan pedal. Awesome spatial panning. The effects on my Digitech TSR-12 rack unit also have amazing depth when used in stereo, particularly chorus, flange, and phase. My sound is pretty well balanced between the two amps with the MM and it's 12" speaker taking care of the lows and low mids and the VC with it's 8" speaker taking care of the mids and highs. Plus I can choose to have tremolo on the VC. And I love the tweed-like growl the MM gets when overdriven. I have yet to use this setup in a live situation but I'm sure it would be more than adequate... it excels when recording. I find it really easy to get a great tone with these basic amps, with effects or sans effects. Someday I'll acquire a second MM and use that in my stereo rig. I think it would be really interesting to experiment with different 12" speakers in 2 MM's. My current one has the original ceramic speaker and it would be cool if the second could have an AlNiCo. You just have so many options with a stereo setup.

I actually use the stereo option rather than an ABY box. Though that will work as well. I have a rack delay unit that is stereo -- boom, I've got a two amp setup.
If stereo pedal/racks are not your bag, you should check out Lehle or Analogman--both have good aby boxes.

it is 100% worth it.

i run a vox ac30cc2x and a hiwatt dr504. they compliment eachother so well.

i used to control them via LOOOPER.com aby i had made. it started to get a bit flakey, so i picked up a Lehle  Dual (ABY).
if you really use an ABY and want quiet, seemless, noiseless, switching without ground issues, check it out.

AMAZING.

How are they powered? I mean does it have a DC input or is passive?

i ran my combos in stereo at practice today. oh damn. so nice sounding. i had the marshall clean and the peavey slightly dirty, oh god. it was awesome. hearing the dmm come through both amps spread out sounded so great. i love my rig. :D

I have a Morley ABY kicking around somewhere.

I generally used it for bass, with a small tube 1-12" combo(old off-brand based on 5F1 Champ circuit) CRANKED for distortion, and a 15" SS bass combo (a Peavey TKO, I think) with a distortion/fuzz pedal.

So I had straight clean bass, clean plus screaming small amp, fuzz bass, and fuzz plus scream.

An ABY has the be the most effective investment you can make.

I use a Banzai A/B box to split my sound between a '65 twin reissue for clean and a JCM900 2100 for crunch and dist
i regret not having the A/B/Y one instead of the A/B one
right now, i only play on the twin, because the marshall needs tube replacement, it sounds weak and crappy.

Wow! that thread has made me wondering (yes I know, pretty OT..) that it will be cool also to use a tremolo/panner in a linked input amp as a bassman or a plexi style, when your trem is off the amp as both the bass and bright channel linked and when the trem is on you get the sound that oscillates between the two channel, creating a sort of tremolo/phaser.. :-*
Ok! I'll put that in my "to buy when I'll be famous and rich" list.. ;D

P.S. it will work also with a bassy amp and a bright one running stereo, as previously said, so I'm back IT! ;)
