You can't beat the price on them. I still prefer plugging into Marshall cabs though.

well they do use Baltic Birch and thats what wood every single cabinet maker uses and if you get the empty cabs that they offer you can put like Vintage 30s in it.

Re: avatar cabinets
I purchased one a year ago to go with my tiny terror head. It sounds exactly the same to me as the orange brand 2x12 that I played through. They are made from the same material and both are loaded with Celestion vintage 30's. The avatar was $300 instead of around $800. The people at avatar were friendly and professional and I had my cab within a few days from ordering it. I am very satisfied.

If you are considering it or any cab for that matter to use on tour i would suggest purchasing a Roadcase/flight case what ever they call em or build one.

And, from what I understand, Avatar's "hellatone" speakers are actually broken in v30s, etc.skottissue wrote: I purchased one a year ago to go with my tiny terror head. Re: avatar cabinets
I've done 3 west coast tours with my 2x12, which I bought specifically for touring (small, light, vintage 30s). The tolex tears when you slide a heavy head (like a SVT) over it. The feet fall off (Avatar mailed me 4 more for free, which is awesome).phibes wrote: How do they hold up on the road?

It's definitely not as rugged as my marshall 1960a. The tolex is way shittier and it is suspiciously light compared to marshall, mesa, or orange 2x12 cabs. I love the way it sounds for creamy leads, though it tends to be a bit boxy (it's closed back) for hard rockin' rhythm playing.
Overall I'd highly recommend it based on sound and price. If I had the money for the Orange 2x12, I'd get it though as I did think it sounded a bit better and I don't mind heavy cabs, we just don't have room in the van for a 4x12.

Re: avatar cabinets
Mine is well made and priced reasonably. I would get a second if I had room.
