Tiny Amp Death Camp
I found this Montgomery Ward amp in a furniture store for $75. I assumed it was an 8" speaker, but when I took off the back board it turned out to be 6".
It is pretty crazy. Very farty at first. But it worked. I assumed the speaker was ripped, but it looks fine. I tightened the speaker to the baffle and that helped. It is super fuzzed out on 10. I can get some nice cleans when I roll my guitar volume down. It's really all about the psycho fuzz though. Single notes change and sound weird as they decay. It's not going to become my main amp or anything, but it will be good for something.

Re: Tiny Amp Town Too
The third tube doesn't have lettering in front of it. I thought that the 55JDR referred to that tube?
What is an isolation transformer?
Thanks for the advice, even though it is not what I hoped to hear.

I don't know why I had to ask what an isolation transformer is, while on the internet.

Whoa!
Danger Will Robinson!
I'd just ran across "serial heater" in my Googling/learning about amps and was wondering what that was. Bummer that the Monkey Ward is one. Psycho fuzz is a Very Good Thing.

That would make sense. 55 + 50 + 12 = exactly 117, which is what line voltage was in the 60s and 70s (technically 120 nowadays, often in actuality more like 125 depending on where in the country and what power grid you're on).Mr. Peabody wrote: The third tube doesn't have lettering in front of it. While doing a little googling about your situation, I found this thread which seems to describe an amp very much like yours. Probably the very same one, sold under a different name.

Re: Tiny Amp Death Camp
I haven't used it really since learning all this "death" business. I looked up isolation transformers and only found really expensive ones at the time, for some reason.Riptide wrote: I have one now! hows your amp been behaving?
Now that I realize that I can get one for $20-$30, I'll probably get one soon.
