How difficult is it to repair an input jack on a speaker cab?

I have a 70s era Ampeg 4x12 with V30s in it that I love. The input jack on the back of the cab has been wonky since I got it. Occasionally the cable will just pop out of the jack disconnecting the head I’m using from the cab which I know not only sucks because your sound just died but also because I’ve always read that a head running with no connected cab can do a lot of damage fast. I think I could just put a new jack in but I’ve never done this repair before outside of doing it to a guitar. Is there anything I need to know in order not to fuck it up or is it a simple matter of opening things up, having a new jack, and disconnecting the cables from it and attaching them to a new one and putting it back?

Same as a guitar's output jack.

Make sure it's something 'good' like a Switchcraft or Neutrik; easiest will be if it matches the form factor of what's in there currently.
