[NAD] Man, the Terror Stamp freaking cooks!
I'd known about the capabilities of the Micro Terror and always wanted one but never pulled the trigger. When they announced they'd put it in a pedal format, it became a must buy for me.
Finally found one in stock and pulled the trigger. Tried it out today and wow, it cooks.
My stepson has the Orange Crush Pro 120, which is legit af, and honestly, this thing can keep up with it!
I'd also been needing something that sounds good for DI and headphone practicing, and this fits the bill perfectly since it has both capabilities.
Very happy.

Nice. My brother in law has a Tiny Terror. Not a sound I go for, but I was still really impressed with it.
I like the simple interface of this a lot.

Cool, didn’t know that this even existed.
I’m not very familiar with Orange amps, and this may be common on their control panels - but why are there 2 volume knobs and a gain?
Also, about how much is this going for (when you can find it)?

Seems to be about $200, it has a real tube in there, also.
Looks promising, actually. I didn't love my Iridium but am still into the concept. This might be fun.

Master gain and then you can switch between the two volumes using the footswitch.somanytoys wrote: ↑Thu May 14, 2020 8:42 amwhy are there 2 volume knobs and a gain?

I got this for $200 new.

The Iridium isn't an amp though. This has DI capabilities but also has a power amp.

Sure, but for purposes of recording I would imagine that this amp would be about the same as the amp sim is. That's all I meant, that this might be a good recording tool.
Although I feel like maybe it's more geared towards high gain type uses. Still, could be great.

Okay, that makes much more sense, like 2 channels.
It’s got a power amp in that thing? I figured it was a pedal and/or preamp, kind of like the Rusty Box, but this thing can go DI or straight to cab? I was actually going to ask if you used it as a pedal or preamp, and what you used it with, both which amp & type of power amp (tube or ss).
What’s the wattage?
Damn. I really need to resist looking at this further. I would like to take it for a few laps tho, since I’ve never used an Orange.

If it has a tube and DI it might be more like a brand specific version of the Vox Tonelab? Without the digital effects and other amp models? As if the Tonelab only did Vox amps.

20 watts. The power amp is solid-state.
But it's a loud 20 watts, and it feels bigger.

Yeah, there's nothing digital about it. It's just a Micro Terror in a pedal format.fuzzjunkie wrote: ↑Thu May 14, 2020 9:44 amIf it has a tube and DI it might be more like a brand specific version of the Vox Tonelab? That’s pretty cool. I would think that it sounds good with the tube preamp.
I had bought a Quilter Microbock 45 amp in a pedal a while back, but didn’t get along with it. Or the ZT Lunchbox. But I think this has more to do with the ss preamp than the power section.
I have all ss power amps for my bass rigs, it seems to be more about what feeds them. I like tube better, especially for guitar, but I think that (in most cases, anyway) if you feed a good ss power amp a good signal to amplify, it does fine.

microblock 45 is awful. period. i wanted to like any of these small class d amps, especially for headphone playing but i have not played one I like. i still hold out hope, but i even disliked the milkman.somanytoys wrote: ↑Thu May 14, 2020 12:51 pmI had bought a Quilter Microbock 45 amp in a pedal a while back, but didn’t get along with it.
if guitar shops ever open, i'll give the orange a try simply for the price and it's got to be better than the microblock.

Same here. I had the ZT for a good while, and tried to like it because it’s small and a badass concept. Same with the Quilter.
Both just had this squished, nasally sound I couldn’t deal with, and pedals almost made it worse. Don’t miss either one of them at all.
That’s not a bad price for what the Stamp seems to be. I’ll look into it one day and likely buy it when I do, but I’ve been a pretty good boy lately and haven’t been buying much of shit.
