Yup, first amp was a Peavey Bravo

Then, when I got into a pretty heavy band in college that wasn't loud enough so I moved up to the Bandit, which I had all the way into the early 2000s, when I got a hand-me-down Alamo amp and ended up selling it or giving it away. No shame in rocking a Peavey, though.

The first image doesn’t show for me.

Never heard of the VT series, but I keep hearing and reading great things about their Classic 30 tube amp.

I was in a shop where I get my equipment worked on quite a while back, and they had a Classic 30, and the owner said they were really good and very underrated, and this one was in pretty good shape. I didn’t want to try it because I figured I’d like it and walk out with it, didn’t even ask the price.

I didn’t need another guitar amp, but I think that same day, I ended up buying a cool Acoustic bass amp anyway before I left. I needed another bass amp as much as I needed another tube guitar amp... :fp:

Cool!

I'm stealing this for an EC Facebook group.

My first amp was a Peavey Deuce II (pre-VT series, I think), that I bought at a pawn shop in Paris, TN as a teenager for $110 (IIRC) in...1981? I still have that beast, although it is in pieces at the moment--one of the rectifier caps died, and I decided to re-cap the whole thing, although I lost motivation halfway through...

My all-time favorite guitar sound (well, one of them) is Paul Weller's on 'Setting Sons". I read where it is a Ric 330 with hi-gains into a Bandit.

Awesome :). I recall seeing some videos of him live with Peavey's too that probably would't be too hard to track down. My bandmate had a Deuce and loved it, but said it weighed a ton.

Those old Peavey Deuces can be had for a song.

I really miss viable Peavey as a brand on the market. Kept everyone honest.

Peavey Bandit was probably the first amp I lusted after. I read magazines, and I knew how well regarded they were. The same magazines mentioned other amps, but they were on a different planet, there was no way anyone I know might be able to afford any of them.

The exception to this was the Marshall AVT series and the Hughes and Kettner Warp series. These were well regarded in magazines (given the musical trends of 2000 - 2003) and I knew two different guitarists who had one of those each. That wasn't really obtainable by the rest of us though.

I remember playing dozens of gigs with borrowed amps, or my shitty Frontman25R cranked (this did not work). Then playing a gig with an older, professionalish band a few times. They're guitarist had a Bandit. And It was incredible. I'd never sound so good.

In hindsight that band of older, past-it, middle aged, losers was probably younger than I am now.....

The Cure used transistor Peavey amps for most of their classic period. ('81 to '92 iirc). Their entire backline was peavey. It has a sound for sure.

My first "real" guitar amp was a Backstage Plus & my first bass setup was a Dynabass + Mark VI. All I have left now is a T-40 & a single space power amp.

No beef with Peaveys here - I've played through a few and was happy enough with them.

Not just used by Costello, either - also the sound of The Jam (the Marshall stack's just for show; the wee Peavey on Weller's right is mic'd up).

Solid state roolz!

A guy I played with had, IIRC, an early/mid 80s Peavey that might have either run a pair of 6550s or huge bottle 6L6s. I think it was a 2x12, covered in a nice tweed, and was one of the nicest sounding amps I have ever heard, period. He was a pretty amazing guitarist, so that didn't hurt.
