Stain on the grill cloth?! (Solved)
Hello!
And again I'm here for wisdom and guidance!
About two months ago we went to the studio and while there would have been plenty of amps available we wanted to use our own stuff of course. So we brought our five Fender Amps with us! And while I have a protection cover for my Supersonic and the cabs I don't have one for my Vaporizer.
Long story short - it started to snow just before we arrived and within the 10 steps from the car to the door there must have been some snow flakes touching the grill cloth - which has a very light grey tone - and the wood underneath is painted black - so the wood probably got wet and the stain began to expand slightly. I didn't notice it at first but after about half an our I saw it.
Any way to get that off again?
I'm over the idea of selling it because I actually like it quite a lot - but for aesthetical reasons I'd like to get rid of it... and in my logic wettening the stain would obly spread it/lead to more stains...
Any ideas, suggestions, experiences, solutions?
Thank you in advance!

best thing i can think of is try to take off the grill and then attack it with cloth furniture cleaner

I'd just buy some new grill cloth and staple-gun it back on there.

Thanks for the input. That was already my idea some time ago... + making a matching weird surf green 1x15 speaker cabinet in a similar spacey optic... to put a use for the reconed K-130 speaker that no one wants to buy off me...but the Vaporizer has no external cabinet output jack...so what's to do in this case?

LOL! I was thinking the same thing. Yes Ol' Bill stained her dress. She had her own line of soap called Comeclean. Ha HaMayTheFuzzBeWithYou wrote: ↑Mon Mar 25, 2019 10:56 amNo? But I fear I don't get that joke.
... I was 9 or so when this Lewinski/Clinton affair took place - and I can't remember all of it...
but no - I tend to wear pants while playing!
Any how you'll have to take that grill off to get to it. Whether you clean or replace it

Well there are a freaking lot of these staples...to un-and re-do. I wanted to avoid that... what if I unscrew the one speaker and put a cardboard or something alike - just to avoid contact between the wood and the grill-cloth - and use a textile cleaner and a hair-dryer on it?
Anyhow... I'll try that tomorrow!
Thank you all for your input! If it doesn't work that way I can still call it a day and get a new grill-cloth!

Re: Stain on the grill cloth?! (Solved)
It took a while. And I had to disassemble the whole amp... but I was successful in solving the problem without taking off the cloth!
Once the baffle was out of that weird frame I started to lay flyer (from one of our shows a week back - so with no more use) between the wood and cloth and started to work it with textile cleaner - the one stain I was after was gone - but several lighter ones came due to the concentrated foam of the cleaner. I watered it carefully and worked the whole grill with a piece cloth. No visible stains left! Mission accomplished!

Nice one. I was worried you may have to resort to Vapoorize.

Now why in hell does no one want a K130? That's a fantastic speaker!
