New 62' Princeton Chris Stapleton Edition
So this looks like one of the more enticing things to have come out of NAMM this year. The price is a bit wince inducing (I mean, an actual 62 Princeton can still be had for <$2k), but it's great to see Fender give the 6G2 a nod, and it looks to be a proper, quality job (handwired) at that.
The Filson cover is the icing on the cake, my haggard and naked amp is suddenly feeling jealous!
No interest whatsoever in the Chris Stapleton connection, but as I've watched original 6G2's creep up out of my price bracket over the last few years, maybe when these will be a relative bargain when they start cropping up used in a couple years. Then again, maybe they won't.

Looks great. I’ve never understood why Fender haven’t reissues the brownface amps yet. I bet they’d sell a ton of DRRI-style Brown Deluxe reissues.

I cannot imagine there are more people willing to buy this because it has some guy's name on it rather than the simple fact that brown fenders sound amazing and have always been underrepresented vs their tweed/BF+SF equivalents. In fact, I am less enamoured with it because of the endorsee's mark. Leo's name, I get, but why would I get a Fender Trendy Dude Signature amp when someone else can build these for similar cost and the only difference will be that I can spec weird options on the build and it doesn't have the 'F' word on it.

The simple answer to your question would probably be because a lot (I would argue most) of people still look to the big amp names. Fender, Marshall, etc..rather than have a boutique person make a version. It's not that boutique makers aren't as good, but I think fewer people are willing to go that route due to unfamiliarity mostly.MechaBulletBill wrote: ↑Thu Jan 24, 2019 12:43 pmI cannot imagine there are more people willing to buy this because it has some guy's name on it rather than the simple fact that brown fenders sound amazing and have always been underrepresented vs their tweed/BF+SF equivalents. In addition to that, there's an entire underground country music scenethat's happening right now and that has strayed away from the commercialized pop country of the last 30 years. That's largely because of guys like Stapleton. So it makes sense being that he's pretty popular and has made significant contributions to what I would say is a positive step for a dying genre.

Also, anyone know what these babies sound like in comparison to a blackface?
I've been looking for a smaller amp. It appears that these have that beautiful brownface tremolo that I have played on another amp.

Well, in general the brownface amps are somewhere between the tweed and blackface amps: slightly dirtier than blackface but cleaner than tweeds. More mids than blackface, less/smoother treble and slightly looser low end. In general they are darker sounding than blackface amps.Unicorn Warrior wrote: ↑Thu Jan 24, 2019 11:25 pmAlso, anyone know what these babies sound like in comparison to a blackface?

This is my experience with my brownface 6G6B Bassman, brownface 63 Vibroverb RI, and blackface Bandmaster.
As for smaller amps, this might help:

What he said, but bear in mind these have Princeton reverb-style bias-vary teen as opposed to more complex harmonic trem of the bigger brownfaces.
