Amp similar to a Fender Vibrasonic Amp?

Post by supersonicjazzmaster » Fri Oct 19, 2018 3:25 am

Hi,

I am using my 1961 Fender Vibrasonic Amp really a lot. A mega reliable and perfect sounding live amp at all!
It is 40 watts, so like a half Showman. 1x15" speaker :)
I play it simply with Fender Reverb tank.
My question: Do you think / know, is there a combo amp similar to a Vibrasonic Amp?
It hast to be loud and clean and best speaker for me is a 15".

here a video where I play mine. On a truck. I play the white Jaguar. The amp stands behind me.
No micros on the amps at all, simply pure sound. Good! :)

So, any suggestions about good small mighty combos? Doesn´t matter what brand...

Traynor and Musicman jump to mind ahead of anything else.

Any of the vintage brown face 50 watt (Super/Bandmaster/Pro/Concert) would be very similar. The Brownface amps have a different circuit than the blackface amps (and the killer tremolo) that I don't think really was ever brought back (maybe the Vibroverb reissue?). Sounds killer.

I already had two Vibroverb reissues. One sounded good, one sounded boring. Sold both again.
Yes, it´s the brownface sound.
So, anyone knows an other amp which produces such a similar "brownface" sound? A combo?

VIntage would be the Bandmaster. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u-mtkYxtf_Y

I have a friend with one, it is a fire breathing monster.

I would guess someone is making clones today, but this is the head that matches the combos.

Anything with a properly adjusted EQ pedal in front of it...

LOL. Little early for April Fools day, pal.
