So I bought the first one on ebay then and hour later went to a shop and saw the Peavey for £30 second hand and couldn't resist.
The Peavey seems an OK little valve amp - anyone used one and got any thoughts?
The '54 Champ clone sounds sweet but very quiet (even maxed out it's still almost tolerable in a residential setting late at night where neighbours are very close.)
What is the best speaker for Champ 5c1 circa '53 / '54?
What is the best value speaker for a Champ 5c1?
Has anyone tried the 5c1 Champ with an 8" speaker and how does it compare to 6"?

The Champ clone...
... and its innards...
Peavey Nano Valve. It's not great, but it's the sort of amp that was so cheap and sounds so "pretty good" that I can't see myself ever getting rid of it.
