Fender Custom 57 Pro

Post by deluxejazzmaster » Sat Jul 21, 2018 10:21 pm

Just picked this up for a couple reasons. found my deluxe was too quiet at times for rock music and also wanted a good amp for jazz guitar. Anyone else going straight into their amps with no effect (not even reverb or trem). This amp is a lean machine one 15, 28 watts with very little break up.

I’ve played through a tweed champ, deluxe, bassman, and Tremolux, but never a pro. I’ve read good things, though. How does it compare to, say, a bassman?

thick bottom end. Makes the Jm sound meaty. It breaks up at 6-7 and is creamy sounding. I am going into my "old man" phase and don't use any peddles and was considering a fuzz pedal to go with this (fulltone 69 or a soul-bender) but might just keep with the plug and chug. there is a lot of chime to the top end of this (which I wasn't expecting with a 15 inch speaker) but it could be due to the newness of this particular amp.

Totally different beast than the other amp I use (a custom 64 deluxe reverb hand-wired) and I guess that is a good thing. This is not as light at the dr. but definitely not as heavy as the vibro-king I traded for this (75 lbs vk vs. 50 lbs pro) so my back is also happy too.

Cool! I think pedal steel players like these amps a lot for some of the very things you just described. I’ll definitely have to check one out if I ever run into it in the wild. I need another amp like I need a hole in my head, though! :)
