i love the UL twins. it's easily one of my favorite amps of all time. never owned one though. they always seem to be more than im willing to spend.

I heard back from Solderhaus today. It should be ready Friday. He said there was actually a strange ineffective mod made to it. I guess it looks like someone tried to attach the reverb circuit to the normal channel. (They didn't do it right.) He is putting it back to stock. He said my caps in the can were bad and leaky. He thinks the bias capacitors are actually fine to keep as they are. He doesn't understand why someone would do it that way, but it works well. Sounds like once that mod is reversed and the three prong power cord is done, it will be finished. He said those old tubes are still working great and that a lot of the capacitors are still good. The guess is it wasn't ran very much. He also agreed that the speakers (while inefficient) sound pretty nice with this amp.

My twin is home! It sounds wonderful! I am really happy it got a full checkup and a new grounded power cord.

Turns out my foot switch had an issue that I hadn't caught. He fixed that and undid that odd reverb mod.
