Fuck me, the amp started crackling. I took it out and lo and behold, replaced power transformer. There's a new production Hammond in there.

Also a tube or two might need replacement. Still sounds great when not acting up but the Power Transformer issue pissed me off.

I requested a partial refund.

Can Reverb help hold his feet to the fire? That's some bullshit.
This is an excellent rectangle

I requested the refund through Reverb and Mr Hi-Tone confirmed on an email that the PT s in fact a replacement. So i hope Reverb, helps if the guy wont give up the refund.

Other than the PT, everything else is stock it seems. I sent him some pics and he said that this was one of his first JP30 prototypes.

The seller hasn't responded yet.

At least the OT is stock... Gut shots plus one bad pic of the amp.

Im torn. Should i keep it, send it back?

The amp sounds great, even adding the shitty tube mixup it came with. 4 different brands in the power section.

It was crackling a bit but I squirted contact cleaner on the pots, jacks and tube sockets and the crackling went away.

Obviously not worth the same without the original power transformer.band extra holes in the chassis.. You can see where the original was bolted and it was quite beefier. So I wouldn't get anywhere close to what I paid

Fuck, shipping would be expensive plus the packaging the guy used, im surprised the head didn't fall out in transit... Hr did use the original box but very little padding on top. The head was loose inside.. Usually a recipe for disaster The box might not survive another trip either.

If you can wrangle a partial refund (since it sounds like it isn't worth what you paid for it), you may as well hang onto it if you like the sound. Problem is, eBay (and probably Reverb as well) aren't really interested in facilitating anything other than full return/refund for any problem. All depends on how helpful your seller wants to be.

The seller hasn't responded yet. Im not sure what happens next. He has about 8 hours left to respond to my partial refund request.

Im assuming Reverb will step in. Unlike eBay though it doesn't say that the buyer wins by default if the seller doesn't respond. So i guess some sort of mediation process will begin?

Seller hasn't responded still but Reverb did. They will request that the seller takes it back and helps with shipping.

Sorry to hear about the bad interaction but at least it is getting taken care of. It's a bummer you'll have to wait for a new amp but waiting for the right one will be worth it.
