Are the differences major?
I know that the JC-120 has seen various circuit changes over its long history. With that said, I want one again and am trying to decide whether to go new or old.
I had an older one that I really liked but it had some reliability issues. Never could get a proper diagnosis as the tech wasn't very good.
Honestly, I'm leaning towards a new one circa year 2000+ to avoid hassles, but want to make sure the new ones are very comparable. My main concern is the chorus. Are they digital or analog in the newer ones?
Are the newer ones still good amps? Anyone with experience?

unless you get the really old ones with the depth control for the chorus and the "beautiful girls" reverb tanks, i think the only major difference is a knob instead of a switch on the vib/chorus.
i know the circuit is slightly different, but its still not digital(as far as im aware).

What is acoustic? Oh, you means a grandpa's guitars? A grandpa's guitars? That's for pussies and grandpas. I think you know it.

Aren't new ones super expensive? To me it will always be a $300 amp... $400 tops.
I know the JC-40 has digital chorus... not sure about the current JC-120 but I bet it does. It seems like Boss/Roland stopped making analog modulation effects starting around 1999-2000.
Look for a silver toggle switch for the bright switch. Avoid those with the black push-button.

Should have mentioned I don't plan on buying a brand spanking new one. Just considering one made within the last 18 years which to me is "newer".OffYourFace wrote: ↑Fri Jan 12, 2018 5:56 pmAren't new ones super expensive? To me it will always be a $300 amp... $400 tops.

So, what's good about the silver toggle and what's bad about the black push button?

the black button model has a different PCB/layout so they do sound different. They might (not sure) have digital chorus as well.

Digital chorus would be the biggest deal breaker for me. Hopefully they remained analogOffYourFace wrote: ↑Fri Jan 12, 2018 11:51 pmthe black button model has a different PCB/layout so they do sound different. They might (not sure) have digital chorus as well.
