New Amp Day Marshall Master Reverb 30

Anyone know what could cause this sound that happens when the preamp is turned up and down mostly, but also the normal volume? It is a solid state amp.

Re: Marshall Master Reverb 30 Hiss?

I got this amp on Reverb and it seems pretty cool. From what I read last night, hiss from having the preamp turned up loud is kind of normal with many amps. I was concerned because it arrived damaged and I wanted to make sure it was ok. The amp was shipped in a box with one missing side. Instead of cardboard on that side, there was just packing tape that was taped to the amp cover. There wasn't much of any padding around the amp on any sides. Due to shipping, one of the four feet actually ripped out of the plywood. Two of the other plastic feet broke from shipping. One of the feet pressed the plywood enough to cause a hairline crack. I worked on it tonight. I drilled the holes a little bigger so I could dowel it with wood glue upside down. Hopefully the glue in there will soak down into any cracks. I couldn't get the hairline cracks to open by pressing the foot, so my hopes are the glue and dowel will help restrengthen that area. I have it drying upside down so the glue can soak more into the plywood. I will order a set of rubber feet to replace the plastic ones. I think in the long run, rubber ones will be better than the plastic ones anyways. Here are some upside down pics for now. The amp sounds great. Really great. The reverb is awesome and you get some good Shredmaster tones when you dime the gain and play with the prescence knob. I really dig it. You can also get a nice mild overdrive if you play around with the preamp volume. I believe this has mosfet transistors in it. The spring reverb is actually in with the guts from pics I have seen online. Pretty interesting. The Celestion speakers sound pretty nice to me. Seller is sending me an old Ibanez Super Metal pedal because of the shipping damage.

Drilled and installed the new feet. Looks good! And here are proper right side up pictures. It is a pretty amazing amp. The gain on it sounds a lot like a shredmaster pedal. :) Great reverb and clean sounds plus overdrive and full gain.
