Re: easily portable bass rig
I just played through the BH250 1x15 combo at a rehearsal. It's just fine! Certainly as loud as your old Peavey. Maybe it will run out of steam with a loud band? But a nice form factor and it sounds good.

I agree with the post above: One of the tech21 VT bass products + a small cab (maybe 1x15) should get you in the ballpark. Sansamp Bass DI driver also sounds pretty good and usually can be found pretty cheap used.

Lots of good choices here. As Shadoweclipse13 mentioned, direct is a great option, and I've never been disappointed by Tech21 SansAmp stuff. Most sound guys in my region like running direct, rather than having to mic a cab or a combo. More often than not, anything with speakers just ends up just being an optional stage monitor.

Re: easily portable bass rig
All good suggestions, but I do like having a Bass rig behind me so I don't think DI is really my thing. I've been looking at the Ampeg PF350 and the Markbass Little Mark 250. Both have balanced XLR DI outs, both have an FX loop, both are pretty small. Anyone worked with either of those?
This is a signature. If you're reading this you've gone past the end of my post.

I use the tc electronic bh250 in a really loud band. With a 4x10" it's really loud. I think it would be an alternative to check the bg250 combos? They are very lightweight.
I love the tubeoverdrive sound of toneprint.

Yeah, I've wanted to check out those TC heads. I'll definitely keep those in mind. I've been pretty happy with the toneprint software for pedals. It's great to pick up a really cheap mini pedal and then have so many options.
I've tried out some of the markbass stuff over the years at stores though I've never owned it. I got really close to buying one once but ended up going a different direction. I think they're solid, definitely pretty light. Not a bad option at all, though I would personally probably lean more towards the Tech21 VT bass head or the TC 250 head. That might just be more out of loyalty to those companies than anything though. I have not been very impressed with the low end ampeg products. Granted, I haven't played some of the newer ones, but I always felt that the cheaper end of the ampeg line just didn't sound great to me. Obviously the high end ampegs are amazing.NoiseNoiseNoise wrote: ↑Thu Nov 23, 2017 5:13 amAll good suggestions, but I do like having a Bass rig behind me so I don't think DI is really my thing.
