Re: Rauland W-819
Good luck! Wait, what turned to mush, the sound? I'll be interested to hear what this sounds like when it's running the way you like. I'm especially curious about the range of the Tone dial(s).

Yes.
The sound turned to mush after a certain amount of trimmin away.
What that tells us is that these pentodes are very linear at what they do. Lesson learned from that is that the main consequence of altering rail voltage for one of them is one of "warmth" to the sound.
Of course amplification factor will be varying as well, but that aside i guess we can conclude that the main thing to push around for a SSP is the cathode resistor value, which indeed changes sound.
That and the decoupling of said resistor in liason with capacitor value from g2 vs ground.

Re: Rauland W-819
...and i´ll state that the absolutely beautiful old Rauland W-819 is done and ready for business.
It sounds really fantastic and sure looks the part too.
Haven´t measured output of the unit but it sure is loud enough. No worries.
Happy as pie in short.

Re: Rauland W-819
Congrats!
Can we get a shot of it in a darker room? I'd like to see what it looks like with all of the controls lit up. Also, why don't more manufacturers do this? It seems like having the controls lit up would make things easier on stage, right?

Can´t but agree.
On all counts. You can expect a short cellphone video of it too down the line.
That said every now and then you put together an amp that just has "it". Having leaned into it over the day and used it for rehearsal tonight..this is one of them.
Granted that i mainly use the wilder side of the amp but regardless it´s friggin magic to play. It "cuts" through the mix like there´s no tomorrow. Fanfriggintastic!
Got a gig come saturday. 3 sets worth, and this´ll be the one to tag along. No two ways about it.
