Possible suitcase amp inspiration
I saw an article in a Classic & Sports Car about a firm that puts modern audio into old suitcases and I thought it might be good inspiration for nimble fingered amp builders.
I'm sure this has been done before with guitar amps but I don't really follow that side of things so I thought I'd post it for similar in the dark folk.
I see potential donor trunks and cases all the time and you often see quite sturdy tweed covered ones.

That'd be awesome!! You could store your cables and other peripherals in the case too.

Eh, those are kind of stupid. Powered by cheap chip amps. Unprotected drivers. I'd be surprised if any actual thought was given to matching drivers or crossover design.

next they will be fitting speakers into the doors on a fridge and saying "listen to music while you grab your next cold one"
relaxing alternative to doing actual work ...

Re: Possible suitcase amp inspiration
I doubt they'd sound very good. From my perspective the cab is a huge part of the sound in a combo. You'd have to make some pretty big compromises in cabinet design to fit an amp in one of them.
I also reckon you'd need to build a tough frame to support the weight of the transformers and speakers at which point the case becomes primarily cosmetic. A well built amp (a la a vintage fender) is a study in utilitarianism, I think these would just add superfluous bumf that's not really needed.
All that said, I take the point that old suitcases are cool and match well with nice looking gear. I have a WEM Copicat built into a leather suitcase and a full size pedal board in a tweed one.

Re: Possible suitcase amp inspiration
Another approach would be to insert a high-output contact transducer & use the suitcase as a sounding board. Maybe this would be better suited to basses.
