My son's been sick so today was a good day to tackle this project. My friend and former bandmate has made a few cardboard "Iowa Anvil" covers out of cardboard and packing tape. The one he uses most is still going strong a decade + later, so that was the inspiration. I decided to take a shot at doing something similar out of Coroplast and liberated a few tax-related signs last month that were going to get tossed. This project took two campaign-sized signs.
I cut everything to size with a square and a utility knife and mocked it up around my At Mars Specialist head, trimming each panel more as needed. When everything was the right size I taped it together around the head with blue painter's tape. Then I took it off and applied epoxy to the joints on the inside with a popsicle stick. Since the head has roundovers as most do there was plenty of room to have a bead on the inside. In retrospect epoxy was a pain in the ass to work with, but I already had it.
I did the cutout for the handle by making a little template and cut it before final assembly. As it turns out on this amp the handle is centered on the top panel so that made aligning the cutout a little easier.
Anyway, it's not perfect, but not too bad for a first attempt. It fits really tightly and is sturdy enough that the head can sit on top of it. I'm planning to do another for my VHT Special 6 head, so if there's any interest I can document the process.

If you need more, gas stations always get new signage from coke/Pepsi almost weekly so check with them about getting their old coroplast signs. My wife uses the stuff for guinea pig enclosure.
What is acoustic? Oh, you means a grandpa's guitars? A grandpa's guitars? That's for pussies and grandpas. I think you know it.

Nothing new to report yet. It's (primary) election day here in Seattle though, so tonight/tomorrow will be a good time to do some sign harvesting. There are like 21 mayoral candidates, so lots of losers.FightingPlankton wrote:any updates on this project?
