Hey guys. I just nabbed a vintage Vox AC-10 for a song. It does have a changed power transformer, which looks like has a selector switch for 200/210, 220/230, and 240/250. The transforer is an "RS Hygrade." The voltage selector on the amp itself has been bypassed.
I live in the USA, so I assume this means I will have to get a UK-US adapter or converter of some kind to run this here? The power cable is currently not on there, so I have the option of putting a UK plug on there if I need to get it to work withe adapter.
Anyone have any advice for me on what will work best?
I also am toying with just putting a proper mercury magnetics replacement transformer in there.
Thanks!

Congratulations on the AC-10. Not sure about details on transformer types or makes, but i can tell you that you could get a step up transformer. The US power is too weak for this amp, as i'm sure you know. A new transformers is not a bad route if you don't mind changing the value of the amp/transformer.
If you ever plan to move to this side of the pond you might rather want the step up transformer. If you want to gig with it frequently you may opt for the new transformer.

The RS (Radiospares) Hygrade was used on vintage Marshalls, including the 18 Watt. If it's in good working order, it is a valuable and sought after tranny. If you choose to replace it, you could probably get a pretty penny for it.
