i got a sunn concert lead yesterday and replaced the power cord someone mutilated as well as am removed the death cap.
that is my question though...
i have removed the big cap connecting the polarity switch to the ground but is this other big cap attached to the power output plug also one? if so does it need to be removed or only if i plan on using that power out jack?
quick "death capacitor" question

Re: quick "death capacitor" question
It's "in" the circuit, regardless of whether you have anything connected to the output.
It's not connected to the chassis/earth, so shouldn't pose any safety concerns.
As for its purpose, I'm guessing it as some sort of mains filter. If its old, & obviously its of the electrolytic type, might warrant replacement or removal. There are much better mains filters available nowdays & it isn't really a necessary component.
