Definitely look for an old Gibbs, if you feel up to it (make sure you find one with the right impedance!), HOWEVER, I own both an old Gibbs and the old made in USA Accutronics, and I have to say... The Accutronics is my favourite. Perfect amount of decay, super punchy, and always sits well in the mix, even at '10'. The Gibbs sounds good until about 5 and then it's WAAAAY too much.

I also bought a Mod tank because people on here said they were good. Yeah... Don't buy a Mod tank (or take mine).

This is an old Accutronics, made in Illinois, and it sounds great. If I had a pedal that did what this tank does I'd be super happy with it.
The cool thing about fretless is you can hit a note...and then renegotiate.

I haven't looked back since I picked mine up. I'm even somehow managing to justify having both the PR and non-reverb model!!
Man, that Tele... :?

Compared to you I've only dipped my toe into the vintage pool, but the water's niiiiice.

It's been a good week for trades. I also traded my Shure SM7b for a new Aston Spirit, which I'm loving so far. Great mic.

I've just been pron-ing over these photos again. That's just perfect.

To be fair this is the ideal BF Princeton Reverb - one that's had the sting of the price taken out of it through modifications, and which has had work done to improve reliability.

The key thing you're lucky to have is the speaker. Having the benefit of playing two similar SF Princetons, one of which has it's original Oxford and one which has a really nice Weber ... there's something in a worn in speaker that you just can't replicate in a modern replacement.

That amp will run for years without giving you any trouble and sound glorious doing it. May it wear well Todd. :)

"I've only had it for roughly 10 hours, but I have to say OHMYGOD.THIS.THING.IS.AMAZING! I now understand what all the hype is about. It truly is an incredibly musical amp, and it fits my needs to a tee."

You always seemed like a sensible bloke, glad you have woken up to yourself and got one of these :)

Welcome to the club and it's a nice club to be in

I also have a '67 Princeton Reverb! I love mine. It is totally original (including cap can), except for a replacement PT from a '71 princeton reverb.

I love mine to death. I don't think I'll ever part with it!

congrats, T!! i love it when a basket case is brought back to glory.

i can't believe the number of $400 BFPR's i overlooked in the quest for a Super Reverb or Vibrolux back in the 90's. eventually i did get lucky and got one as payment for some studio work.

i'm not certain, but you might keep an ear out for avoiding speaker distortion - mine came with a C10N, and the P has a much smaller magnet. even the N can be blown out from old age. i've managed to keep mine alive as i got a 12" baffle to accommodate my "library" of 12 inch speakers that i've somehow managed to accrue. i've got a weird looking no-name alnico in there for a couple years now, it gives up some sweet breakup just after the amp overdrives, really fun. but the 10" vintage Jensen is still the BF classic tone

I love the '67 Jensen! It really is what I hear in my head when I think 'vintage BFPR'. There's no hint of distortion that I've found, solid as a rock. There's something special about 10" speakers, for sure.

Congrats!
I'm glad to know that another human being is enjoying a Princeton Reverb. It's such a beautiful sound!

I have a reissue. I so badly want an original some day.
Lucky man!
Enjoy it!
