DRRI opportunity

All-

Ran across a 90s DRRI with flight case for $500. Speaker has been upgraded to a Jensen alnico blue. At a crossroads as I really don't need another amp with a 65 bassman, 2x12 Vibro King cab, 66 & 68 Vibro champ amps in my stable as-is. Although it would be nice to just roll in with somethin small for shows. Talk me in or out of this please, LOL!

What else could you do with $500?

Would any of those other options bring you more happiness than a superfluous amp?

true. Just cause the price is right doesn't mean purchase. Everything I have now is compatible in regards to ohms and should just enjoy what I have.

Thanks for the perspective!!

as someone that lives in a part of the world where something like this is a rarity, and when it does someone always beats you to it, I could only say don't do it. j/k I would jump on it if i had the monies. ::)

I'd buy it, it's a great price, especially with the blue. Deluxe are great. You can always move it on. Opportunities don't always come up.

No. Don't buy things just because you can or because other people want to vicariously enjoy your gear purchases as they spend your money. You have a ton of really great amps, and most of them sound arguably a lot better than a DRRI.

If you had some needy friend or relative, or you have the kind of contacts where you can easily flip gear then sure, do it. At $500 that's a nice deal, but it's not a super amazing price of the century where you could flip it tomorrow and walk away with a few extra hundreds of dollars.

No vote here too actually.

Two champs in stereo or a bassman + 2x12 is a great pair of choices I think for small to large gigs. I can imagine in 6 or 8 months you would either get rid of the DRRI or bassman because of overlap (and I bet it'd be the bassman that stays). It is a great deal for someone that needs a DRRI, but this kind of thing has tricked me before too. Do you really need a flight case or does it just sound awesome? Maybe it's not actually adding value. Do you just want the speaker, or does it just sound awesome? Could you flip it if you traded speakers with one in the vibro king cab? Are there better deals on speakers out there if that's really what you want? If you're not unhappy with the speakers in your 2x12, I bet the alnico blue is also not adding as much real value to you as it might seem.

But anyway, just playing rational devil's advocate. It is definitely going to be a lot of fun to turn up.

ps Ooh, don't forget that a third option you have now is putting a mic on one or both champs.

Sometimes I like to think of deals like this that I choose to let go as penance for previous bad decisions :D
So you could still get something out of it even if you let this one go 8) :P

Buy it and I'll buy it from you for the same price + shipping around March or April

Pretty much this. It's a good deal, but only if you will use it.

Didn't pull the trigger on this one. Deal was decent but ultimately decided to let someone else move in on it.

I can patch either vibrochamp into the 2x12 for huge tone or if more headroom is needed, the bassman. Again, thanks for the perspective which really helped closed the loop.
