Re: Cheap But Decent Bass Amps?
My bassist friend have a Rumble 15 watts and I have a Ampeg BA-108 (old model) for friends that comes jamming in my house. We have compared the 2 amps and the Ampeg sounds way better. If you can find the old model (25 watts and knobs on top of the amp; the new one : 20 watts and knobs in front), I think it worth a try.

Well, I went out and bought the Rumble 25. I like it! It's adorable and sounds quite nice, once dialled in. Pretty decent sound at $150 after taxes. Naturally, the bigger versions sound better, but this will do for bedroom stuff and maybe quiet practice with a band. I only had a chance to play through it for a little bit last night, but so far it's not bad at all.

Fender Rumbles are available from 25 watts to 500 watts from $99.00 to $599.00. Many choices. Light weight, Loud, sound great & not expensive.brucer wrote:I tried out the Fender Rumbles when I was looking for a bass amp. I thought they were quite good and they get a lot of positive chat on TalkBass. The bass player in my garage band normally runs a Fender B-DEC 30 though and it has to be run through the PA to be heard. Playing out he also needs a separate monitor to hear himself (or borrow my amp). So, all that said, if you go Rumble maybe look at the 40 (https://www.long-mcquade.com/26571/Guit ... Amp_V3.htm) with its XLR line out?StevenO wrote:Might just go and buy one of these:MechaBulletBill wrote:Rumbles are perfectly serviceable ime.

FYI: for my own use, I ended up trading in a guitar amp at L&M for a Traynor small block 500 head (https://www.long-mcquade.com/25511/Guit ... o_Head.htm) and paired it with a Fender Rumble 112 cabinet. Fits all my needs. Definitely recommended, but not cheap ... until after the trade-in.

I have to say, for quiet practice and quiet band playing, the Rumble 25 is really great! If anyone is looking for a quiet bass amp, it really gets a great sound.

If you´re a bass player and into tube amps but short on funds....
That´s something to look for. Just make sure you can try the piece out before handing over your cash. It should be in good working order and provide the power sans glitches.
A fair price for one would be around the 300 Euro mark in my book. They´re workhorses alright..unsung such. Uses 6pcs of 6L6 for power.
