replacing a toggle on Blackheart --> on / std by / off

Post by 2fLAz » Thu Nov 17, 2016 1:26 am

Hi Guys

My bandmate has a Blackheart combo. Cool map and nice sounding.
But one thing is buggoing him. If he switches from 5W to 3W, you hear a loud pop.
The amp only has a on / off toggle switch.

I have found that Carling makes a on / stand by / off switch.
That could be the solution to his pop sound issue.

But I am unable to find a wiring diagram for this kind of switch...

Has anyone already implemented this or has a diagram to do so ?
Thanks a lot in advance
Cheers
Fabz

Why not just switch it off for a second? It should only take a few seconds to power back up, and as long as he's not continually switching off and on in a short period of time there shouldn't be any ill effects.

This is what he does at the moment.
Wouldn't the standby mode benefit in saving the tubes on a long term ?

Depends on who you ask, there are differing opinions on it. If there's any impact on tube life (either way) it'll be a marginal difference. Personally I doubt it'd be worth the effort.

This seems like a hell of an effort to solve a fairly minor problem.

Does it still make the loud 'pop' with the volume turned right down?
