VOX : I'd like some blue with my green
Hey,
I have an AC15, the C1 with the greenback, and I REALLY love that amp.
But I think I'd also really love a Vox amp with the blue alnico...and I'd like to play both amps at the same time.
I have three ideas right now:
- buying another C1 with a blue and pair the amps?
- buying an extension cab with a blue speaker?
- buying a C2 and having one of each in it (I think I like that idea)?
Any kind of wise advice?
Thanks!!!

Re: VOX : I'd like some blue with my green
Idk, but I thought of doing this very same thing when I get my HW AC30. Should be here in a few days. I opted for the green back version. There was a YouTube demo of a guy using one green and one blue in the same amp which I thought sounded amazing. Replacing one of the speakers may be the last thing to do on my priority list but I do think I'll eventually end up swapping one.
In your case, 2 amps would be cool for stereo. But for convenience sake, one combo with two speakers would be easier to hall around. Obviously the cab would be the cheaper option. If price wasn't an option id get another amp before a cab.

The Blue and the Greenback dont have the same efficiency. If you buy a c2 and change one speaker, you will mostly hear the blue since it's the most efficient. Also, I have a ac15c2, and it's a great amp but very heavy. It's not a good choice if you want to haul your amp around. I will probably sell it because of that (and because I dont have a use for the amp at the moment)...
Buying another cab is probably better but you will to make some test with the placement of the cab vs your amp to hear the two speaker equally.
The best thing is probably buying another ac15 with a blue. Since you have reverb/trem covered with your ac15c1, you could go with the HW version with the blue (if you have the extra$$$).

Re: VOX : I'd like some blue with my green
Thank you guys,
That's the kind of thoughts I was looking for.
I'm already on the hunt for another AC15 with blue (there are several for sale locally...hmm, two actually)
And I don't mind having two amps to carry, I don't have back issues...yet!!!

Re: VOX : I'd like some blue with my green
The blue Celestions in a Vox are magical. I had a Korg made AC-30 TBX with the blues for years, and it was to die for - the Greens didn't compare. I still dream about that amp.
Greens don't do it for me - they seem like a pale comparison. A lot of people seem to love them though, but I often wonder how many of those people have spent and time with the Blues to make a real comparison.

I have played with both speaker in a Vox and honestly, I cannot say wich one is best. They sure sound different, but I wouldnt say that Blues are better then Greens. Blues are more efficient and compressed more and Greens are more woody and marshallesque. If the were the same effiency, I would have put one of each in my Vox ac15c2.

I've had AC15's with both. I still have an AC15 with the Blue. The Blues are magic. If it were me I'd replace the Greenback in the existing Amp with a Celestial Alnico Blue. Most are Asian these days which seem to be fine. But North Coast Music sells a British Celestion Alnico Blue

Re: VOX : I'd like some blue with my green
The plan is to use one AC15 (the blue, I think, but I obviously don't have it yet ) as my main amp (paired with a Princeton I don't have yet too ) and to use the other one (the green I think) as my OD pedal (paired with, I think, a Musicmaster Bass amp I don't have yet too x2 ).
With a lot of ABYs box between amps, ABs between channels, and only boosts everywhere...and more reverbs and trem with tap tempo...and a wah...that's allI need afterall.
Something complicated, lots of cables, but I think, in theory, this is what I need...but I don't know if it will work...in my head it's perfect.
I can't wait to try an AC15 with a blue speaker, I'd like to try the magic everyone is talking about.

Didn't know that...DocCarlson wrote:One thing I will say as an important caveat in the blue/green battle: At low volumes the green sounds fuller and, in my opinion, better. The blue speaker needs to be cranked really to shine. So, bear that in mind.
